Im Prinzip haben wir nicht wirklich Ahnung von Mode. Wir sind als Grafiker da eher hereingerutscht. Für uns ist das T-Shirt als »tragbare Grafik« die Basis für gestalterische Experimente. Wir bewahren uns damit die Freiheit selbst zu bestimmen, was wir gestalterisch gut finden und was wir machen wollen. Nur dadurch wird das Produkt auch wirklich gut und die passende Kundschaft findet sich automatisch. In unserem Fall fast ausschließlich über Mundpropaganda. Wirtschaftliche Überlegungen kommen bei uns immer erst an zweiter Stelle. Ganz bewusst gibt es bei Yackfou kein Logo und keine Corporate Identity. So bleibt uns die Möglichkeit im Formenkanon von Graffiti und Streetwear beständig an grafischen Trends zu »forschen«. Zu diesem Zweck haben wir uns ein Grafikbüro mit einer großen Werkstatt eingerichtet, welche als eine Art Entwicklungslabor fungiert. Wir bringen dadurch immer wieder neue Shirts heraus und man kann als geneigter Sammler das T-Shirt als Kulturgut für sich entdecken.

Since we started in 2003 we also sell our stuff also at the known Boxhagener flewmarket in Berlin-Friedrichshain. Starting with some selfprinted shirts there grew a unmanageable mountain of discountshirts, which are always a bit cheaper than the shirts in our shop. In addition we test our new lines there and how the audience likes it. So you see you have even the chance to get some unique stuff.

Everything started in 2003 with a little, not absolutely legal screenprint office in Berlin-Friedrichshain. The experiment should start with the small amount of 1.400 EUR. Fastly there were some shirts printed and sold at the Boxhagener flea market. The products found their costumers very fast, so that we used the asset to print new shirts. That´s still the principle of Yackfou. Currently there are ca.25 motives selected by colours on t-shirts, sweater and hoodies available. Yackfou works together very closely with American Apparel and the postproduction takes place in germany. Therefore all products are sweatshop-free and a fair trade is warranted.
